Pages clipped from Samuel C. Upham's Notes of a Voyage to California ... and from the June 1-July 6, 1878 and Jan. 11-Feb. 1, 1879 issues of the San Jose Pioneer, and mounted. They contain the narrative of the voyage of G.M. Waseurtz af Sandels, who signed himself King's Orphan, from Acapulco to Monterey and his observations while traveling in California, 1842-1843.

Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
